Prof. Samuel Atintono

Prof. Samuel Awinkene Atintono is currently the Principal of Accra College of Education. Before assuming his current position in November 2018, he was a Professor in linguistics and indigenous languages at the University of Education, Winneba for close to 20 years. He has vast experience in teaching and research in linguistics, and Ghanaian languages. He holds a PhD in Linguistics from The University of Manchester, UK in 2013; Postgraduate Diploma and MPhil in Linguistics in 2002 and 2004 respectively from the University of Ghana, Legon; a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics and Ghanaian Languages (Gurenɛ option) from the University of Education, Winneba in 1999. Prof Atintono is a recipient of two prestigious academic and research awards: the Fulbright Research Fellow Award, USA (2018), and Commonwealth Academic Scholarships for PhD Award, UK in 2008. He has been a consultant for various education, and literacy projects implemented in Ghana by Development Partners which include DFID, UNESCO, USAID-METSS, USAID-Learning, World Bank, Plan Ghana, and World Education, Ghana. Prof. Atintono has provided technical advice to other international organizations such as the AUDA-NEPAD where he has been the Ghana Team Focal Point for the Calestous Juma Executive Dialogue (CJED) since 2021. He led the Ghana Team to participate in a number of workshops and conferences across Africa (Egypt, Malawi, Gabon, Kenya, South Africa). He has been a consultant for various education, and literacy projects implemented in Ghana by Development Partners which include DFID, UNESCO, USAID-METSS, USAID-Learning, World Bank, Plan Ghana, and World Education, Ghana.
